That site has literally -everything- you might want to know about leveling up your hunter with the best pet possible. If you're horde I suggest going for Takk The Leaper, a rare spawn raptor in the Barrens as raptors and boars have some of the highest dps for low lvl pets. If you're alliance, one popular pet for hunters in the early 20 lvls is Lupos http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/html/mobs/mob_lupos.php , a wolf that spawns right next to the road in Duskwood. Personally, wolves are my favorite pets for their balance of good base stats and attack speed, as well as their abilities bite and furious howl, which buffs nearby players with +dmg.
If you plan on making your hunter a twink for PvP then the best pet you can have is a Bat for its silence ability, Screech. It will make you unstoppable by giving you the upperhand against casters and hunters have the natural advantage against any melee too.

• Whatever you want really as long as it isn't a plainstrider, crocolisk, moth, dragonhawk, wind serpent, warp stalker or spider all of which legitimately suck. I personally got an owl at level 12 and have used it since. Each pet has their own advantage though.
