What should I buy to help the lag in World of Warcraft?
okay, I have World Of Warcraft on my computer (windows XP) and it has ‘decent’ speed but I lag way to much in major cities and i can’t do BG’s (way to much lag). Anyway I heard I can buy RAM for my computer to make it run faster. My computer currently has 384MB of RAM. What (or how much) should I buy to get it up to 512 or more?
And yes I lowered my video options and I deleted my background programs!First Step
Well here are the minimum system requirements needed to lay the game:
Minimum System Requirements*
Windows® System 2000/XP OS:
Intel Pentium® III 800 MHz or AMD Athlon 800 MHz
512 MB or more of RAM
32 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as NVIDIA® GeForce™ 2 class card or above
DirectX® 9.0c (included) and latest video drivers
6.0 GB available HD space
4x CD-ROM drive
A 56k or better Internet connectionBut their recommended system requirements are as follows:
Recommended Specifications
Windows® System 2000/XP OS:
Intel Pentium® IV 1.5 GHz or AMD XP 1500+ MHz
1024 MB RAM
64 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as NVIDIA® GeForce™ FX 5700 class card or above
Broadband Internet connection
Two-button scroll-wheel mouseSo in short, yes you should get some more ram, it will indeed help out in launching the game faster, and decreasing the lag, I would recommend you to get 1GB of total ram, but 512 will also help too. It would have helped if you had stated you graphic card size. You should also use a high speed internet cable if you are not already, and make sure that you set you computer to maximum performance (this can be found by going to start> control panel> power options).
More information… what should I buy to …
- Go all tha way up to 1 GB(=1024 MB).I got 1 GB RAM and also Win XP and it works great!I got no lag at none of my games!
- For starters, if you don’t have a video card, get one. It will help alot. Make sure to check if your computer is either AGP or PCI-E. With the low amount of RAM, most likely your computer has an AGP slot for video cards. Also, I would highly suggest upgrading to 1 gig of ram along with the video card upgrade. Make sure you are buying the right type of ram too. My suggestion would be to bring it into a computer store if you’re not sure exactly what type of RAM you have. You won’t be running incredibly well in Shatt with these upgrades, but it’ll be playable.
- It really depends on two things 1how much open space you have on the computer and 2 what your internet service is i have a very old computer from 2000 it has windows xp on it and has less ram than yours so try doing one of these two things 1 uninstalling some of the programs on your computer that you don’t use to open space you want at least 2gb free on the computer to play the game and number 2 try a different internet provider like road runner from timewarner cable
you may just have a bad connection with your provider so even try calling the place you get internet from and see if they can help
