World of Warcraft Question! Please answer.?
hi, im gonna make a mage and lvl it to 70 for WotLK. and i was wondering, how do you make it into a fire mage? or frost mage? is it like an ability that you get at a trainer? ALSO can you switch between fire and frost? because i want to start out as frost, but im guessing all the baddys in northrend (in the WotLK expansion) will be immune to frost, so i would like to switch to fire. also. what makes a mage arcane? could someone help me with this? many thanks.-BC
lol, i know it may not seem like it, but i have played before, (lvl 69 draenei paladin on stormrage) just never on a mage, so i knew nothing about mages.First Step
At level 10 you begin collecting talent points, one per level from then on, and these points can be spent in "talent trees" to specialize your character. The mage's options are fire, frost, and arcane. Keep in mind a frost mage still has fire spells they just happen to be better at using frost spells and vice versa. Arcane is simply another magical element, it's sort of like the generic "magic" type damage.

- It seems like youve never played WoW but, you gain your \”spec\” by using talent points you gain after level 10, if i were leveling a mage to 70 i would level as frost and i hear that they are going to get a frostfire bolt that does frost and fire damage i think so frost will probably still be a viable spec
- World of Warcraft splits skills up into talent trees.
As a mage you have 3 talent trees, frost, fire, and arcane.
By reaching lvl 10 you get to start putting talent points into these trees effectively making that school of magic your stronger school.
Please note. Just because you are a Fire mage doesn\’t mean you cannot use frost skills. As a full fire mage you are still able to ice block, and cast frost bolts!
Have a look at www.worldofwarcraft.com under the talent calculator!
- Wow.. ok at level 10 you start getting talent points that you can assign to 3 different categories.. Fire Frost or arcane, depending where you put them you have bonuses to that class of magic. You can still use the other classes of magic but they will be less powerful.. and you can change your talent points at a trainer but you have to spend in game money and it can get quite costly after a while so assign them carefully, once you place then they are there unless you spend money to unlearn them. good luck
